Counseling for Children, Adolescents & Parents

I specialize in helping young people overcome social, emotional, behavioral, and classroom difficulties. I also counsel parents who are seeking new ways to help their children and relieve their own stress. I am experienced in working with young people and their families to find solutions for problems that include ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, frequent discord, emotional dysregulation, and adjustment to life-changing challenges such as a death or divorce.

Much of my practice centers on helping children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder to improve their focus, impulse control, and self-esteem. In addition, I work with parents to keep their ADHD kids on track and avoid conflict over homework, grades, and screen time.

Rick Simon, M.Ed., LCPCCounseling Goals

As a therapist, parent, and former teacher, I understand the complex concerns that can hinder young people and take a toll on their families. My goal is to help children and parents address these difficulties in ways that lead them to cope more skillfully, relate more positively, and live more joyfully. My services include individual counseling for young people, parent consultations on a one-time or ongoing basis, and sessions for the family. I am also available to consult with clients’ schools and to assist parents in advocating for IEP or 504 accommodations. I am a PPO network provider for Blue Cross, Aetna, and Cigna insurance plans.

I believe in the innate resilience of young people. I believe in the commitment of parents to the wellbeing of their children. And I believe in the power of counseling to help families access their inner strengths, solve their most unsettling problems, and change their lives for the better.
